Holiday Gift Guide for Young Girls (Ages 5-7)

This is such a fun age for the holidays! Young girls are able to really understand your family traditions and are anxiously looking forward to the surprise of receiving gifts. While we focus on much more than gift-giving every Christmas, the gifts are still something that my six-year-old  is ecstatic about!

The following are my top ten gift picks for young girls! Some of them are items we have purchased and loved, others we have received for free in exchange for my honest review. Each item will indicate how we obtained them and if affiliate links are included.

1. Amusement Park Season Pass

We like to spend our summers at the local amusement park! Children ages 0-2 get in free, ages 3-5 get in free with a PreK Pass that you must register for, and ages 6+ need their own pass.

Our park is a combination pass for the amusement park (Worlds of Fun) and water park (Oceans of Fun). This park has plenty of rides for little kids, and she will even be tall enough for some of the bigger rides next summer!

I love this gift because the novelty doesn’t wear off after Christmas morning. The amusement park opens in the spring, both parks are open all summer, and then the amusement park has themed weekend events through December. You can visit The Great Pumpkin Fest in October, Winterfest in November and December, and a special New Year’s Eve countdown.

The Gold Pass to our park costs $115 for ages 6+ and includes unlimited visits, free parking, early park access, and discounts on food and merchandise. The Platinum Pass for $200 for ages 6+, and also includes admission to all other Cedar Fair parks.  This recommendation is not sponsored, it’s just a family favorite! You can get yours here – https://www.worldsoffun.com/tickets-passes/season-passes (not an affiliate link).

2. One Kid Unicorn Set: Coat, Mini Backpack, Hat, Mittens, and Scarf

OneKid Outerwear introduced two unicorn prints this fall – black and aqua. We have both for my six and one-year-old girls, and they are both gorgeous!

I highly recommend their Road Coats because they are safe for car seats, keeping all of the bulk out of the way of the harness. With your Road Coat, the straps will still pass the pinch test! The Vegan coat comes in Aqua Unicorns, and is rated down to -10 degrees fahrenheit. The Down coat comes in Black Unicorns, and is rated down to -25 degrees fahrenheit.

They also have a bunch of unicorn accessories! We have the Mini Backpack – which is great for busy bags on the go. We pack it with snacks and toys for all kinds of outings! Then there is the hat and mitten set which coordinates with the colors of your coat, and turns your little one into a real unicorn. Finally, the hand crocheted infinity scarf also matches your unicorn gear, adds a sweet touch of sparkle, and keeps your kiddo warm!

The Unicorn coats range from $74.99-109.99. The Mini Backpack retails for $24.99, the Unicorn Hat and Mitten Set is $24.99, and the Hand Crocheted Infinity Scarf is $24.99. We received some of our OneKid pieces for free in exchange for my honest reviews, and then I have also paid full price for additional pieces because I love it so much! 3. Creative QT Stuff ‘n Sit

Stuffed animals are so cute, fun to play with, and make great gifts. But over the course of six years and two children, our collection has become overwhelming! The Stuff ‘n Sit Beanbag is the perfect way to hold on to all of your favorite stuffies without having them clutter up your child’s bedroom or playroom.

My six-year-old loves to read, and her new bean bag is just what we needed for a little reading nook. It also makes a great “crash pad” for her bedroom gymnastics antics!

The Stuff ‘n Sit would be a fantastic self-serving gift – it is something new and fun that your child will enjoy for years to come, but it also helps manage the chaos! Choose from the 7 different colors and designs in the 27”, 33”, or 38” sizes!

We received the large Magenta Corduroy Stuff n’ Sit from Creative QT in exchange for my honest review. You can check the current price and purchase here on Amazon – https://amzn.to/2TI7RDl (affiliate link) and get 40% off with the coupon code XOXOGREEN through December 2018.

4. Build a Bear Gift Certificate

Choosing and stuffing your new bear is an exciting and special experience! But when you’ve already got enough bears to fill your Stuff ‘n Sit Bean Bag, the accessories are where it’s at!

With a Build-a-Bear Gift Certificate, your little girl can choose outfits, bows, shoes, and other additions to their bear’s collection!

Plus, the actual experience of going into the store to choose their own accessories adds to the fun. Opening a package of bear clothes is fun, but filling a shopping basket yourself is even more fun!

These gift cards are available in increments of $25 and you can choose between e-gift cards or physical gift cards. This recommendation is not sponsored, it’s just a family favorite! Get yours on Amazon – https://amzn.to/2RbKCA5 (affiliate link).

5. Book Roo Subscription Box

I grew up loving to read, my husband grew up loving to read, and we are sharing this love with our daughters! Pair this passion with the excitement of getting mail with your name on it, and you get the BookRoo subscription box!

BookRoo was created by three sisters-in-law who wanted a fun way to build up your child’s library and love of reading. It is a monthly subscription with options for board books, picture books, or chapter books. The high quality books aren’t your well loved classics, but a whole new world of fun and exciting books!

We received our box in exchange for my honest review. Get yours from BookRoo for $16.95-19.95 – https://bookroo.com/ (not an affiliate link).

6. Girls CAN Crate

The Girls CAN Crate is a subscription box that focuses on bringing up smart and confident girls by giving them fierce role models and activities that send curious minds into overdrive. Each crate features an inspiring woman – and includes an activity book, materials for hands-on activities, and little extras that your child will love!

Our box taught us all about Maya Angelou, and then gave us activities that connected to her achievements. As a parent facilitating these activities with my child, I appreciated the “What’s inside your crate” card. It explained what all was included in the box, and gave me talking points about discussing diversity with her.

Her favorite activity from our box was a density experiment with Skittles. Not only did she get to be a scientist, she also got to eat the unused Skittles! Our final product didnt turn out how it was supposed to, but she still loved it.

We received our box in exchange for my honest review. Get yours from Girls CAN Crate for $25.95-29.95 – https://www.girlscancrate.com/ (not an affiliate link).

7. Little Femininst Subscription Box

Professionally and with other parents, I’ve had lots of discussions about books that do a great job representing people of color. It is SO important for kids to be able to see themselves in books. It is especially important to me that my white daughters see diversity in the books they are reading.

Little Feminist Book Club helps families and classrooms diversify their bookshelves by sending books with strong female characters and people of color each month along with stellar educational activities for each book.

Our box featured a book about Malala, and it was incredible to see the empathy evoked when my little girl read about Malala’s experiences. It is never too early to teach your children that there is bad in the world, but that we can fight for the good!

This recommendation is not sponsored, BUT you can receive $5 off your order with the code GREEN5OFF and every five orders with that code will earn a free 3-month subscription for my classroom. Order your subscription for $19-23 from https://littlefeminist.com/ (not an affiliate link).

8. Bizy Beez Mag Stix

I am SO impressed by the Mag Stix building set from Bizy Beez! They are great for open and closed-ended building tasks, developing problem-solving skills, and learning to play cooperatively. The Mag Stix were also developed with children who have special needs in mind!

The slogan for Bizy Beez is “Busy hands, quiet mouth”. This isn’t to say that they will be playing quietly. But these magnetic blocks encourage creative play and you’ll be hearing an increase in descriptive and problem-solving language!

It has been so interesting watching my girls and students play with these because they are having to figure out how the magnets attract and repel each other, and deciding how to create structures that match the ideas in their heads.

We received our Mag Stix from Bizy Beez in exchange for my honest review. You can check the current price and purchase here on Amazon – https://amzn.to/2KAeNi0 (affiliate link).

9. Gummy Chic Sensory Necklaces

Gummy Chic makes great quality teething toys, pacifier clips, and teething jewelry, but they also make adorable sensory jewelry! My six-year-old loves wearing her Gummy Chic necklace because it is stylish and helps to keep her out of trouble.

On top of the obvious chewing aspect of sensory jewelry, I often see my 5 year old stroking her face with the soft points of the star or rolling the beads between her fingers. She isn’t a big chewer on other materials, but does need something to keep her hands busy. This necklace does that job perfectly, and she doesn’t lose it because it is attached to her!

They are available in a huge range of colors, with quite a few different feature beads. We have a star bead on ours, but there are also flowers, butterflies, unicorns, and even a Mickey shaped silicone bead.

This recommendation is not sponsored, but I have collaborated with Gummy Chic in the past. The sensory necklaces range in price from $8.95-17.75 from https://www.etsy.com/shop/GummyChic (not an affiliate link).

10. Play Makeup Set

My daughter is all about being “fancy” and “elegant” and anything dressed up. She has quite the collection of scented chapsticks, but I’m really not ready for her to dive into real makeup. To help satisfy my little fashionista’s desires, we are compromising on Little Cosmetics pretend makeup set.

The quality of the pieces in this set is incredible. The makeup brushes have real bristles, and the compact has a little mirror for her to use. The different eye shadows and blushes are made from a high-quality craft foam. This gives the illusion of real makeup in the cases!

This recommendation is not sponsored, it is just something that I am excited to give to my daughter. You can check the current price and purchase here on Amazon – https://amzn.to/2KwmENh (affiliate link).
